What Our Apprentices Say

Training and Development
All new colleagues will begin their career with a structured induction to provide the key foundations and understanding of our business to ensure they can hit the ground running!
Training and development is a key focus across the business to ensure
our teams reach their full potential and can make a valuable contribution to a
successful business. Whilst much of our training is ‘on the job’ and learning
from real life work situations, it is supported by experienced colleagues and
additional formal training.
These include:
- Online Training Courses - ‘My Learning’
- Face to Face Training Courses
- Apprenticeship Courses
Through online, face to face training and apprenticeships we are able to offer our colleagues a range of product training courses, systems training, management development courses and sales training amongst other development opportunities.

Commercial Development Programme
Start in sales. Learn the business. Build your future.
Our Commercial Development Programme gives ambitious, hands-on people the opportunity to build a commercial career by learning how our business operates - and how sales, service, margin and stock performance work together to drive success.
You'll be part of a fast-paced sales environment, developing real customer relationships, building confidence in your decision-making, and learning what it takes to succeed commercially. You'll gain valuable sales experience while building a solid foundation for future career growth.

Who It's For
- Graduates from any discipline
- Individuals with 3+ years of work experience looking to move into commercial sales
It's ideal for people who want to grow beyond a standard sales role - those who are looking to take ownership, develop commercially, and eventually lead a team or Business Unit of their own. If you're driven, people-focused, and not afraid to get stuck in, this is a great place to build a career.
What You'll Be Doing
This is a full-time, permanent sales role with structured development built in. You could be getting stuck into any of the following:
- Supporting trade counter and telephone-based sales
- Handling pricing, product availability and delivery queries
- Working to identify Accounts that need developing
- Managing customer relationships across a range of accounts
- Learning how sales performance connects to wider business operations
- Working alongside experienced Business Managers and sales professionals to understand how success is built and measured
- Gaining professional, industry-recognised skills through structured courses alongside your in-site experience
⯈ Your Development Journey
You'll kick things off in the warehouse - the best place to get hands-on with our products and understand exactly what we sell. By working directly with the stock, you'll quickly get to grips with its features, uses, and applications. This practical know-how is the foundation for giving customers the right advice and support.
Once you've mastered the product basics and know how the business runs, you'll move to the sales counter. This is where your confidence grows, your selling skills take shape, and your formal sales training begins. You'll also spend time shadowing different parts of the business - from the Commercial Team to the Service Centre - to see how everything fits together to deliver for our customers.
When you're consistently winning sales, you'll take charge of your own accounts - strengthening existing relationships, finding new opportunities, and hitting your targets. Your Business Manager and Regional Director will then work with you to steer your development towards the areas where you can make the biggest impact.
No two days here are the same. One day you might be hosting a golf event or a breakfast for customers, the next at a supplier trade day or industry event. It's fast-paced, varied, and genuinely rewarding - and with our company-wide Profit Share scheme, the success you help create comes straight back to you.
Where It Can Lead
This is designed to create future commercial leaders
People who understand the customer, the business, and the numbers behind it all. Past trainees have gone on to become the likes of Profit Centre Managers, Business Development Managers or Showroom Managers. The training is structured, but where you take it is up to you.
